Store Domains

Use Store Domains to change the domain name that your store is reached by. By default, your store URL is "example.secure2cart.com" where "example" is your store identity. The store domain feature allows you to set your store's domain name to whatever you want (insofar as you own the domain name). So, rather than have "example.secure2cart.com" as your store address, you can set it to "http://www.example.com" (or ".org", ".net", ".eu", ".ca" or any other extension available to you) where "example" is your chosen domain name.

How to use:

  1. Under the Settings heading click on the Store Domains link. You will be redirected to a page that lists your current store name and domain name.
  2. Once you have purchased a domain name (or have an existing one you’d like to use) and have made the appropriate changes within your domain registrar, click the Request Change link at the bottom of this page. Fill out the form provided. Review your information and click the Submit Request button.
  3. Once we have confirmed that you have correctly set up your domain name we will validate and approve your change. This may take up to two business days.

How to set up your domain name within GoDaddy:

While these steps are specific to the domain registrar Go Daddy, the process is similar from registrar to registrar. If you have registered a domain name with provider other than GoDaddy, use these steps as loose guidelines to assist you getting your domain name set up.

Note: If you are having any difficulty, please contact your domain registrar’s support team and they will be able to help you make the appropriate changes.

For simplicity sake, once again, let's assume you are going to register the domain example.com.

  1. Click on the Domain Manager link in the left navigation Note: Do not click the domain name link directly on this screen.
  2. Click on the link of the domain name you wish to apply to your store (e.g. example.com)
  3. Under Nameservers, select Manage.
  4. Select I want to forward my domains, and click OK to close the window.
  5. Beside the Forwarding heading, select Manage. You may receive the message: An update is being processed for the selected domain. You will be able to change forwarding and masking information when this processing is done. Please try again later. Try clicking on the Manage link again in a few minutes. GoDaddy will have updated your information by that time.
  6. Enter your new domain name (http://www.example.com) into the Forward to field. Make sure “Update my DNS settings to support this change” box is checked.
  7. Click the Advanced Options link and under the Redirect type heading, select I am permanently forwarding my domain
  8. Preview your changes and click OK to close the window.
  9. Look for the Total DNS heading and select Total DNS Control link beneath it. Since it may take some time for GoDaddy to update their information, this link may not immediately appear. Wait a few minutes and click the yellow Go button at the top of the window. The page will refresh and you should be able to click the Total DNS Control link at that time.
  10. In the Total DNS Control window, look for the row containing the www. Click the Edit icon (the paper and pencil) to the right of the page. A pop up window will appear asking if you want to modify the “www” CNAME record, click OK.
  11. Replace the @ symbol in the Points to Host Name field with cname.secure2cart.com and click OK to close the window.
  12. Click Add New CNAME Record.
  13. In the Enter an Alias Name field, type: images. In the Points to Host Name field type: images.secure2cart.com. Click OK to close the window.
  14. Your set up is now complete. Return to your Shopster account and visit the Store Domains page within the Settings heading. Click on the Request Change link and fill out the form provided. Review your information and click the Submit Request button.

Note: More advanced users can also set up their mail exchange (MX Records). This is useful if you have a business email address and you’d like it to match your store domain name ( ex. support@example.com).
